Summer

I don't care what anyone says, summer begins in June. I decided that back on June 1st or 5th or whatever. It felt like summer, looked like summer and sounded like summer, so it's summer. Why do I care? Because we have so many people from other parts of the country who think it's always summer here, and I feel the need to straighten them out.

All the snowbirds have gone and it's a little more peaceful. I'm playing Bocce again. For some reason I signed up for summer Bocce. What was I thinking? It's hot. It's humid. It's rainy season, and that includes thunderstorms, and maybe a hurricane or two. Thankfully this summer the organizer included a 2-week break. Oh the bliss. I'm now on leave and can stay out of the heat and humidity whenever I want.

A lot of the other activities have shut down for the summer because not enough year-round residents are interested. But, there's always interest in cards, Bingo, and any other activity that involves money changing hands. These old folks love to gamble. I wish them well. At least the clubhouse is air-conditioned.

I've been wanting to start some kind of exercise routine because I've been sitting around too much. I was talking to my neighbors last night about our fitness center where a couple of them have been working out. I thought I could start my routine with a visit there and then a swim in the pool. Bad news. The A/C isn't working. Who knows why. I think they turn it down on the weekends to save money. Anyway, I'll have to wait until next week to try to find out.

Living in a retirement community is no different from living anywhere else.

Oh well, at least we have the pool. I hope.
